About JamBuddy
A simple app to help beginners identify chords in their favorite songs
My Story
Hey! I'm Steve Ewing, the solo developer behind JamBuddy. I built this app because I'm learning guitar myself, having just picked up the ukulele last year. As a data scientist who's passionate about music, I wanted a tool that could help me identify chords in songs I'm trying to learn.
While I'm comfortable with data analysis and machine learning, app development is completely new territory for me. JamBuddy represents my first foray into mobile development, applying my data science skills to audio analysis while learning Android development from scratch.
JamBuddy is my attempt to solve a real problem I faced - a simple app that listens to music and tells you what chords are being played, whether you're practicing an instrument or just trying to figure out your favorite song. Perfect for beginners like me!
My Goal
To make learning instruments easier and more fun by helping people quickly identify chords in their favorite songs without needing years of ear training.
App Principles
What I care about when making JamBuddy

Simple & Useful
No fancy features nobody uses - just accurate chord detection that works with whatever music you're playing or listening to.
Constantly Improving
I'm learning as I go, both in programming and music. The app gets better as my skills improve - your feedback helps!
About the Developer

Data Scientist & Music Enthusiast
Data scientist by profession who's just starting to figure out app development. Picked up ukulele last year and am now learning guitar. JamBuddy is my first mobile app.
When I'm not analyzing data or practicing chords, I'm exploring how to apply machine learning techniques to audio processing, or listening to music and trying to understand the theory behind chord progressions.
